Kinkakuji, is the famous Golden Pavilion in Kyoto. One of the city’s most iconic and breathtaking landmarks. This stunning Zen temple is renowned for its magnificent golden pavilion that seems to float atop the tranquil waters of its surrounding pond.
Arriving at the temple, the first thing that catches your eye is the shimmering, golden structure that stands proud. The pavilion, known as the Kinkaku, is a three-story building that was originally constructed in the 14th century as a retirement villa for a shogun. The top two floors are completely covered in pure gold leaf, creating a dazzling and mesmerizing effect, especially when reflected in the pond below.
